Per vacancy round
Application file review
A structured reading of every written application submitted for one vacancy, scored against the criteria you published, ending in a ranked shortlist briefing for the hiring panel.
- Duration
- Five to ten working days after a complete pack arrives
- Where
- Adelaide desk; files by secure transfer or paper; briefing at North Terrace or on site
- Price basis
- Quoted from applicant numbers; from AUD $1,850 for up to 20 applications
Who this is for
Hiring managers, panel convenors, and people-and-culture leads in Adelaide workplaces who must shortlist from written workforce applications before interviews. The reading suits public-sector style criteria, professional firms, health and education employers, and not-for-profits that publish a position description and expect applicants to answer it.
What you receive
A ranked briefing note that maps each application to the published criteria. The note names who met the evidence threshold, who fell short and where, and which files contain contradictions a panel should probe. The briefing is written so a convenor can defend the shortlist if a fairness question arises later.
What is included
- Reading of every written application in the pack exactly as submitted
- Scoring against the position description and key selection criteria you supplied
- A shortlist recommendation with plain-language commentary
- Notes on gaps, recycled duty lists, and unsupported claims
- One clarifying call of up to thirty minutes while the reading is underway
What is excluded
- Conducting interviews or assessment centres
- Referee calls (available only if engaged separately as part of a panel sitting arrangement)
- Rewriting a candidate’s application or coaching applicants
- Drafting the vacancy advertisement from a blank page (see vacancy and criteria wording)
- Guaranteeing that a particular person will be appointed
How the work proceeds
- You send the vacancy pack: advertisement, position description, criteria, classification or award notes if relevant, and every application.
- We confirm the scoring frame with you before marking begins — especially if your organisation uses a locked public-sector template.
- Each file is read and scored. Borderline cases are dual-checked inside the practice.
- You receive the briefing note. A panel sitting can be booked if the convenor wants the scores walked through in the room.
Duration and timing
Most rounds with up to forty applications return within five to ten working days once the pack is complete. Larger fields take longer; rush windows are possible when the interview calendar is already fixed, and are priced accordingly.
Preparation you should complete
Fix the criteria before the reading starts. Changing the ruler midway invalidates comparative scores. Send applications in the form candidates submitted them — do not pre-sort, redact inconsistently, or omit late files you still intend to consider.
Constraints we respect
We work to the criteria you published. We do not invent new measures mid-round. We do not contact applicants. We treat every file as confidential material belonging to your organisation.
Price basis
Quoted per vacancy from the number of applications, the length of the criteria set, and turnaround. Starting figures appear on the rates page. A deposit secures the reading window; the balance is due when the briefing is delivered.
Next step
Send a vacancy pack with the role title, expected applicant numbers, and your preferred return date. We reply within two working days with a quote and a proposed reading calendar.
